Blog Post Proposal

Guidelines for blog writers

Specifications for writing a blog post

  • Word count: between 500 and 700 words. Less could be fine.

  • Topics could be brief reflections, overviews or insights, or personal experiences of practical benefit to others.

  • Avoid promoting yourself or your organisation.

  • Spell out acronyms unless they will be familiar to everyone.

  • If you quote numbers or research, provide links to the source.

  • One or two footnotes or references are fine.

  • Include a line or two about yourself.

Style for blogposts

  • Don’t hesitate to use the first person if appropriate. Personal views can be powerful testimonies.

  • The first sentence of the blog post should hook the reader. Each paragraph will benefit from starting with a strong sentence that signposts the new idea.

  • Short sentences are best, with paragraphs of up to 4-5 sentences.

Use of images

  • Please provide a suitable photo if possible, as long as you (and we!) have the right to use it. We will check whether the resolution is OK. Provide photographer credit, even if it is taken from creative commons.

Editorial process

  • We will send you the edited text for approval before uploading.
